Single and okay with that
Recently while traveling, I met Shannon and she and I were talking. She is almost 30 and would like someday to be married. But unlike so many people that I meet, she is okay with her current situation.
She went to college, and more college and now is a licensed Physical Therapist. She wanted to have a career and she studied and studied and worked to get where she is today. She was patient. Getting to her career goal took time and effort. She says that she thinks some of her friends are impatient.
They want their goals met NOW.
I can understand that. Twenty-five or thirty years appears to be plenty of preparation for life, adulthood, marriage and a family. So why isn’t your life proceeding on schedule? And what if things aren’t going so well? If you lose your job, or really struggle in your studies, or can’t find a job in the area you just spent 4 years learning about, you can feel like tearing your hair out! Or giving up! Or going snowboarding for a year or two!
Lamentations 3:25 The LORD is good to them that wait for Him, to the soul that seeks Him.
Ponder this: What if God is trying to do a greater work in your life by allowing you to face some challenges now?
I know you may feel like you need some encouragement. That’s what friend are for. Have a good heart to heart with a friend or pastor. Ask them to give you one assignment for every day to move you forward out of your funk and towards some success. And then do it! Take on that responsibility-sure, life is hard and you’ve been given a lot to carry. But so have we all. And you are capable-you can do this! Just like soldiers must be trained thoroughly to be prepared for battle, God Trains Us Hard. God is righteous. He does what is right.
Be intentional about your Bible reading. And do what it says. You will be amazed at what God can do in your life. What is God working on in your life? What is He showing you from the Bible? Let us know in the comments below.
